Whilst watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, I noticed many elements of a thriller which we were trying to create in Broken Developments.
For example, there is one scene where Severus Snape and Lockheart have a duel. This is a prime example of "good vs evil" and is shown through colour and lighting. As you can see, Snape (left) is wearing all black; with black hair and black clothing; also his face is fairly sinister to further claim his notions towards Lockheart. Lockheart (right) is had light blonde hair and is wearing mostly white clothes. Both of these specific conventions would imply that Snape is the antagonist and Lockheart is the protagonist.
Furthermore...
This is an image of Tom Riddle. This is actually a flashback in the film and is displayed through a change of colour in the filter during editing. Before the flash back, Harry Potter is in normal "everyday" colours before being "transported" into the past. This flashback is exaggerated by a bright light and having the new scene in sepia/black and white. Also, this specific shot holds a low angle shot implying superiority towards Tom Riddle and also the close up of the shot further implies an importance to the character.
