What have you learnt about technologies in the process of constructing your film sequence?

From the process of editing my film sequence I have learnt a lot about the technologies used in constructing such a piece of work like this. Firstly, I had learnt how to use the camera and the tripods in order to actually film the clips for the opening sequence. As well as this but also, I had to know how to upload the clips from the camera to the computer into Final Cut Pro. Final Cut Pro took a while to grasp, as it was new software, which I have never used before. It took a while to work out how to cut down clips and to add different effects, colours and how to overlay clips. After grasping the basics I started to look for new ways within the software to improve the opening sequence of Broken Developments. I realized I could edit the speed of clips and even reverse them, which proved to be very useful and effective within the opening sequence of Broken Developments. Not only this but we also used Soundtrack Pro to make the soundtrack for Broken Developments. This also took time to grasp the basics such as where to find relevant sound effects and how to time it perfectly with the actual sequence. After we had completed the soundtrack, we imported the opening sequence to Soundtrack Pro to merge them together to double check it fitted. If it didn’t then we edited it further so everything was incorporated. As practice makes perfect, the fact that we re-edited our opening sequence and changed it many times we became more aware of the software we were using and what we had to do to make it more effective. Not only did it become easier to edit in Final Cut Pro but also, Soundtrack Pro became easier to use and it was easier to find the type of sound we wanted. For our final product we wanted a continual piano or violin sound, which was fairly sinister to attach the connotation of loss or sorrow. Also, I learnt how to use motion to create different and interesting titles to fully create the atmosphere towards the audience of a thriller opening sequence. The use of colour correction and filters which we used during the editing really helped add the desired effect of our opening sequence for our thriller. The colour correction helped enhance the red which was a main and very important enigma code for Broken Developments.
